Sunday 4th to Saturday 10th October 2020, AEDST.
Led by Barbara Turner-Vesselago, who will join us from Toronto in Australian Eastern Daylight Savings time, this Freefall Writing Online Workshop will enable writers to access all the benefits of a Freefall Writing retreat, without leaving their own workspace.
Under Barbara’s guidance, Freefall Writing will help you to connect with your deepest intention in writing, and to write with authority and grace.
Scheduled at times to suit Australian writers, this Freefall Writing Workshop will be held and taught by Barbara Turner-Vesselago from her home in Toronto, and supported locally by host Kirsten Cameron from Melbourne.
Following an introduction to the workshop hosted by Barbara on Sunday 4th October, the online workshop will involve five days of writing, with detailed daily feedback on your work from Barbara. Evening workshops will involve readings and discussion about the writing based on notes from Barbara but led by Kirsten. Barbara will join the group on Saturday to host a final discussion of the week’s work and an extended writing exercise tailored to meet the particular needs of each writer.
- $875, maximum 12 participants
We will talk through the week’s structure and what to expect, in the introductory session on the first day, but in the meantime, to give you an idea of what to expect…

Saturday 10th October

In addition, there will be a final extended writing exercise.
A week with writers
Part of the Freefall experience is being able to interact with other writers. New friendships are often made, and the things learnt outside of the formal tuition are a wonderful complement to the practice of Freefall. To support this engagement with each other, we will host a forum where we can discuss different aspects of writing, the writers life, or other things that come up that have nothing to do with writing at all.
- $200 Deposit is required to secure your booking
- Full payment required by Friday 11th September
Note: Until the deposit is paid your place is not confirmed.
If full payment is not received by Friday 11th September, it will be assumed you have cancelled.
In the unfortunate event that you have to cancel your booking, the following fees will be held
- $50 non-refundable admin fee for cancellations made after booking
- $200 deposit is non-refundable for cancellations made after Friday 4th September
- Full amount is non-refundable for cancellations made after Friday 11th September
In the unlikely event that the workshop is cancelled, the full deposit and fee paid by the time of cancellation will be refunded.

We appreciate that the move online does create some new hurdles and Kirsten will be available in the lead-up to the week and during the week to make sure you are comfortable logging in and participating online.
A practice session will be held with Barbara on Saturday 19th September at 9.30am AEST to ensure everyone is able to login and is comfortable with how the workshop will run.

“I have been surprised by how effective the online freefall retreat has been. I had put the time aside for the residential, so decided to act as if I was away from home, and not to add in any other work type meetings or events. I am so glad I did that, because it has enabled me to keep my focus. The whole experience has been absolutely fabulous. The structure and container has felt solid. The writing has flowed, and the online meetings have been rich and rewarding. In fact, in many ways I prefer doing freefall online to being away from home. We felt like a cohesive group very quickly, and I feel a lot of warmth for those on the retreat with me. So I really feel that I have been in a retreat, my writing has benefited hugely, and the whole process has been deeply satisfying. “Juliet Grayson, UK, author of Landscapes of the Heart
“In a strange, unexpected way, the process of writing, giving and receiving feedback, felt clean, somehow acute in this way. As always at Freefall, I experienced an overhaul of my ‘self’ – I felt pulled over coals, pulled apart and then carefully put back together again – by the process. “Rebecca Ellis, Yoga Teacher, UK
